The company is located in our beautiful mountain town and operates out of the Truckee-Tahoe Airport. They offer three options to get you high in the sky to fly like an eagle high above the Sierra Nevada and beyond; all three adventures are available for one or two people:
Martis View: 15 – 20 minutes
Tahoe Vista: 20 – 30 minutes
Sierra Vista: 30 – 40 minutes
For the ultimate gift for Dad, purchase an Introductory Lesson! He will be able to fly the aircraft hands-on with a Certified Instructor by his side. For complete information, visit SoarTruckee.org.
Go Climb A Rock!

As a mecca for rock climbing adventurers, Truckee-Tahoe is among the most popular for the novice to the most advanced. Thanks to all the natural granite that wraps throughout our mountain towns, there is always a new climb to be found.
For the Novice to the Most Advanced:
If you have ever wanted to climb high into the sky, Via Ferrata at Palisades Tahoe offers another adventure of a lifetime.
Their website describes it best: Clip in and climb on! Through their ‘assisted climbing adventure,’ the course is equipped with ladder rungs, steel steps and suspension bridges that allow climbers to move through the challenging terrain. Each participant is issued a harness with a specialized lanyard that attaches to the cable. As they explain: this harness ensures you and your Dad are connected to the rock 100% of the climb, and it makes this ultimate climbing adventure accessible to people with no rock climbing experience at all.
For Intermediate to Advanced Climbers:
For those who love the sport and are looking for local insight, pick up a guidebook at one of our many sports stores in Truckee/Tahoe:
Tahoe Mountain Sports
Tahoe Sports Hub
Granite Chief Ski & Mountain Shop
The Backcountry
Bluezone Sports Truckee
And for one of the local’s favorite smartphone climbing apps, check out Mountain Project.
From our Elder Group family to yours, we share this appropriate quote from an anonymous poet some time ago:
“A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light to take us there.”
Happy Father’s Day!
