Locally known as the ‘gateway to Tahoe’s West Shore,” Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge has been a landmark on Lake Tahoe since the 1950s and touts the property as “the ultimate lakefront place to stay and eat.” Be sure to call ahead as reservations for their lake view rooms are quite popular throughout the summer months.
Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort is a stunning lake-front boutique lodging experience that offers spectacular views of Lake Tahoe from the 32 well-appointed four-star suites which are steps from its pristine and private 250-foot sandy beach. Float His Boat With a Day on the Lake or Trails
Dads love it here! The whole family will too!
Touted as “America’s Playground,” the High Sierra offers endless ways to play throughout the season, and summer is indeed no exception. We took a survey at our real estate office in Truckee and now provide you another great list to help you treat Dad to a terrific time this Father’s Day in Truckee and Lake Tahoe.
Biking in and Around Truckee & Lake Tahoe
Whether you bring bikes or rent from many of the local sports shops around town, we always like to get on our bikes and get out for some of that great Sierra fresh air and sunshine. Here are a few of our top trails that we think will be yours, too!
There are many reasons why a vacation at Northstar California is always a top choice for families across the USA. And its renown Bike Park is often at the top of the list. For the novice to the most advanced, mountain bikers can explore miles of world-class terrain all day long while taking in the resort’s mountain scenery and fresh, crisp mountain air. To get you started, take a look at the Northstar Mountain Bike Trail Map then make plans to head to Northstar with Dad this year!
Bike the Tahoe Ale Trail
This adventure is overflowing with views, and brews, that collectively has the Tahoe Ale Trail on the map across the USA. Thanks to a local collaboration of the various breweries (most of which serve a great assortment of local grub) throughout Tahoe/Truckee, this is a “Gotta-do-with-Dad” quest for mountain bikers of all abilities. To get you started, here’s a link to the award-winning, interactive map and video series.
Truckee River Bike Path
For the novice to the most advanced, the Truckee Bike Path is a perfect way to peddle along the crystal-clear waters of the Truckee River. No matter which direction in which you ride, be sure to include lunch, dinner or some après’ appetizers at River Ranch Lodge complete with a deck that is wrapped by the rushing Truckee River.
Get Wet and Wild!
Lake Tahoe is certainly on the top of our list when it comes to getting out in the great outdoors. And thanks to all the businesses that offer boat, jet ski, and wake and water ski rentals, there’s always a plethora of toys on which to play with on Tahoe’s crystal blue waters.
HIGH SIERRA WATER SKI SCHOOL
Established in June of 1978, High Sierra Water Ski School has two convenient locations to serve you – one at the Sunnyside Restaurant, Lodge & Marina and the second on the West Shore at the Homewood High & Dry Marina. They offer an impressive selection of watercraft, water toys, and lessons … and are ready for anything Dad wants to do on the Lake!
Whether you’re looking for an afternoon excursion, a multiple day vacation or something special like a family reunion, North Shore Boat Rentals has the gear and expertise to help you enjoy the great outdoors.
Be it a day-long charter, complete with a professional Captain, or a morning or evening cruise on the Lake, Rent A Boat Tahoe offers a nice selection of first-class watercraft. They also enjoy working with groups for weddings, 4th of July, and other special occasions.
