It’s that time again … one of our favorite times of the year when the spring season slowly melts into ‘golf season’ in and around the High Sierra. It’s the time when the sound of lawn mowers on the links remind us that it’s time to get the clubs out and head to the driving range to get our ”golf game on” and ready for what will inevitably be another sensational golf season throughout the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region.
To help you get your calendar filled up with tee times, we’ve done some research about the opening dates for golf courses in and around our hometown and have listed those details below.
If you ever want our own local tips on where to ‘tee it high and let it fly,’ never hesitate to stop in to see us in person at our real estate office in Truckee, or give a call, text, or email at any time.

Surrounded by six majestic Sierra peaks, the Links at Squaw Creek is a championship Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course that rests serenely at the base of Squaw Valley. Iconic to Jones’ classic mountain course architecture are his efforts to capture the unique mountain setting while protecting its natural wildlife habitat and wetlands.

The Golf Channel rated Historic Old Brockway in Kings Beach, CA as one of the top 9-hole courses in the country, and for those who have enjoyed a day on the links, they’ll agree. Every hole has a view of the lake and the pines that line the meticulously groomed fairways are some of the oldest and most photographed at Lake Tahoe.
Perfect for a morning or afternoon on the links, this nine-hole public course is Truckee’s best value and offers a variety of challenges for duffers of all levels. It’s a par 35 course which offers three sets of tee boxes to make the novice to the most advance ready to play within their ability level. The course also has practice greens, a chipping area, snack bar, pro shop and plenty of expansive views to complement this community golf course.
