Best Doggone Spots to Raise Your Pup

No doubt about it; Truckee-Tahoe is one of the most dog-friendly regions on the planet! From the parks to the beaches, at our restaurants and on the rivers, our communities are filled with pet-friendly spots to play with your pooch and pets.

Top Trails for Tail Waggers

Here’s a list of our favorite spots to take Aspen and Rossi for a day out to play!

Donner Memorial State Park

Donner Memorial State Park is one of the most dog friendly spots in Truckee Tahoe. Located in the Sierra Nevada in Truckee, CA, you and Fido will discover camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water-skiing, and hiking at this state park.

Northstar

During the summer months until September, Northstar at Tahoe offers free gondola rides for hiking and allows leashed dogs on the gondolas. It’s a beautiful family adventure! The village is very dog friendly, too.

Truckee River Rafting

Here’s a really fun option. Truckee River Rafting offers dog-friendly, self-guided rafting trips along a peaceful five-mile stretch of the Truckee River for you and your pup. The scenic rafting trips are appropriate for nearly all ages and athletic abilities.

Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram

Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram in Olympic Valley, CA, is dog friendly during the off-season. When ski season ends, grab your pooch and head to the aerial tram for a beautiful ten-minute ride. There is a charge to ride up the mountain but, if you hike up to high camp (elevation 8200 ft) with Fido, the tram will give you both a ride down for free.
